UNDERDOG PROJECTS

Underdog Initiative projects are developed in response to needs expressed by the local communities we serve. Our teams participate in projects which help to build practical skills, enrich the community and grow an appreciation of the value of teamwork.

As part of our commitment to collaboration, UI works closely with government ministries and local NGOs to identify and facilitate meaningful projects in a sustainable way.

Aquaponics

Our aquaponics projects provide fish, fruit and vegetables for feeding programs as well as learning opportunities for local students. UI teams can add on to an existing system or gift a community with a new one.

Infrastructure

With limited funds, infrastructure projects can often be challenging for communities to undertake. Fence building and other infrastructure projects can enrich communities by increasing security and providing a welcoming space for children to explore.

Revitalization

Revitalization projects like painting schools provide a fresh look and boost community spirit. Refurbishing playground structures and cleaning up local parks are also great ways to give communities a boost!

Education and Wellness

Partner with local schools and NGOs to support education and wellness initiatives such as literacy and numeracy, fitness, music and the arts. Our UI teams can share their skills and expertise to educate and inspire children (and adults too)!

Technology

UI teams have the opportunity to create or enrich computer labs in community schools, as well as support the development of tech literacy. Increased access to technology means greater opportunities for students and the broader community.

"There should be a rite of passage which results in the youth of this nation having under their bed a pair of boots covered with the dirt of a developing country in which they have served."

~Lieutenant-General Romeo Dallaire
